This review is from: ASUS G73JW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Black) (Personal Computers)
Just as a side note, im not saying others are dishonest, but I am not a seller of this item or being paid to write this. I am a college student, and I do not game on anything but computers because they dont die out like xbox to xbox 360 or ps2 to ps3. I have owned a Gateway FX6860 before this one but that one recently died after 2 1/2 years.

So onto this product:

Ill start with the bad or just things to know. The harddrives comes partitioned into four sections just so you know and that may cause you to have to save and install things in directories much sooner than you expect.

The keyboard: The keys squeek very slightly every once and awhile if you catch them just right and the keyboard in my view kind of sucks. Feels like a MAC keyboard with smooth profile, but the buttons dont have that "punch" feel, so you end up missing alot of keystrokes, (for example just there i typed "aot" instead of alot), and for a college person this is not ideal. So if you are a heavy paper writing person, I would recommend a usb keyboard.

Now it may seem like Im bashing it but giving it a five star but there is good reason. If your willing to buy something in this price range quality elsewhere is important and this thing has that.

The sightly bent feature of the keyboard is HUGELY better than any other laptop setup. Keyboard does not exhaust fumes like other gaming rigs I have used. The two exhausts at the back DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO! Hard to believe but the FX I had would radiate heat into your hands and cause your hands to sweat and the vents on the side of that one, would rev up and down , up and down.

This one is very quite and the vents do not vibrate the machine and I find the whole rubber esque resting platform for you hands to be nice.

On the side of the touchpad, I have not have personally had this computer give the standard errors you usually get for touchpads where things stop working (side scrolling quits, things like that), but I also have it turned off most of the time. I use a mouse, and when typing you WILL graze this touchpad because its HUGE.

Another plus is everything you want to do on this computer is do-able via the function key and the numbers. You can sleep, turn on wireless, turn up and down keyboard lights, adjust screen brightness, monitor switching, no touchpad, volume (mute, up , down), and the spacebar with function allows you to switch power options.

Everything is very accessible on this laptop and you do not have to dig to get to simple things like the calculator (FN+ENTER). Just little touhes make life easier when using this.

Game Performance: I played crisis full blown on this with max setting and no problems, if I even thought it would have a whisper of a problem, just clicked he Overclock button and it was like a paint program to this thing. I play Fallout 3 with High def mods on it for textures and same thing, blows right through it, also have played, Dragon Age, Bioshock, Assasins Creed, and many other different types no problem.

The CPU and Ram make this thing a must get for someone who doesnt want to buy another computer. AND!!! Having warranties on it makes your purchase much easier because now you know it can be fixed at no cost really to you. Very nice.

Windows 7: No problems with it what so ever! I have used XP, I swear by XP, but you have so many compatibility options and things like that , you have no excuse not to get some older things working.

3d SUPPORT!: This does not do 3D! It can EXPORT 3d to a 3d TV, but there is a version of this laptop with 3d monitor , but graphics card takes a .5gb dedicated ram hit, so thats your choice.

Graphic Card: Beastly!

I also do video editing, burning, ripping, and things like that, and this thing does them in at least half the time compared to the dual core I had. So much nicer because time is an issue when rendering things and who likes waiting 16 hours for that kind of stuff or even 2 hours. I bought this for expedience in work and pleasure and it does all of that without a hitch.

All in all, if you have the money, or look at this from an investment standpoint, this computer will not be replaced anytime soon, at least 2 years, and it has warranties to cover yourself included in price, an Alienware comparable is 2,000 no way around it and without warranties to this extent. This is an investment not a purchase but it will be well worth it if you can look past the issue of the keyboard squeakyness and lack of precision, but a $20 keyboard isnt going to kill you on a budget up to this thing.

Awesome gaming rig and multitasking school rig. Nice looks and quiet. Plenty of room all around for storage, pre partitioned to avoid the hassle, bit of bloatware (but maybe you'll use it), and worth the money in my point of view.

Make this a serious consideration and see you on gameday.

Sincerely,
